This 1939 Fiat 500A Topolino Trasformabile was refurbished years ago in Turin, Italy, whereafter it was brought to the US, and it has reportedly spent much of its subsequent time on display in museums and collections. Finished in beige with black fenders and a brown fabric roof, the car has a 569cc inline-four, a four-speed manual gearbox, 15″ steel wheels, hubcaps, drum brakes, and bucket seats. Brake services was carried out recently under prior ownership. This Topolino is now offered at no reserve as part of the DFW Car & Toy Museum Collection in Fort Worth, Texas, with an Indiana title.
The 500A was released in 1936, and its Topolino, or “little mouse,” moniker refers to its size and appearance. This first-series, Trasformabile example is finished in beige with black fenders, a brown fabric roof, and a rear-mounted spare wheel under a black cover. The car was repainted during a refurbishment carried out in Italy years ago.
Painted 15″ steel wheels have hubcaps. The car features an independent front suspension, telescopic shocks, semi-elliptical rear leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. The brakes were reportedly serviced recently.
The cabin was reupholstered years ago under prior ownership. The seats and pocketed door panels are trimmed in beige cloth, while the floors have green carpeting that shows signs of wear, per the selling dealer.
The steering wheel sits ahead of a body-color dash with an instrument bezel housing a 100-km/h speedometer and an oil-pressure gauge. The odometer shows a reading of zero, and total mileage is unknown.
The 569cc inline-four was factory equipped with a single-barrel carburetor, and it is connected to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
Engine and chassis numbers are stamped on the data plate beneath the hood, and the car is titled to its chassis number.
The Indiana title lists the Odometer/Brand as “Exempt.”
The DFW Toy & Car Museum has surpassed its 200‑car limit and is thinning the collection to allow for future purchases.
