This 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL is powered by a 2.3-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and is finished in white over blue leather. Equipment includes a blue convertible top, a removable Pagoda hardtop, 14″ steel wheels, and Wagner halogen headlights. The seller purchased the car in 2017 and it is now offered with a car cover and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example is finished in white (050) and features a blue convertible top, a removable hardtop, a driver-side mirror, and Wagner halogen headlights. The seller notes a bubble in the paint on the exterior, and photos showing tears in the convertible top can be seen in the gallery.
The 14″ steel wheels feature polished and painted covers and are mounted with 185/75 Hankook Optimo tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The tires were replaced and the rear brake drums were adjusted in June 2017.
The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in blue leather that extends to the door panels. A Becker Europa radio and Kenwood door speakers are installed, but the radio does not work. Tears on the seats are visible in the gallery.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, approximately 2,000 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.3-liter M127 inline-six was factory equipped with Bosch fuel injection and features a Duralast battery. The fuel filter and fuel pump were replaced in June 2017.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
