This 1964 MGB is an early-production roadster that was acquired by the current owner circa 2014, and it is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Work under current ownership included rebuilding the transmission, refurbishing the heater, and replacing the carpeting, door panels, tachometer cable, and battery. Finished in yellow over black leatherette, the car is equipped with a retrofitted Weber downdraft carburetor and an electric fuel pump as well as a black soft top, front disc brakes, chrome bumpers, and a banjo-spoke steering wheel. This MGB is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner at no reserve with a Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in the current shade of yellow under previous ownership, and it is equipped with a black stow-away soft top with a removable frame as well as early-specification “pull-style” door handles and chrome bumpers with overriders. The windshield washer equipment is present, but the system is inoperative. The ends of the front bumper are tilted downward, the lower portion of the front valance is dented, and photos of dings and exterior imperfections are viewable in the gallery below.
Silver-painted 14″ wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with 185/65 BFGoodrich Control T/A tires. A spare wheel and tire are located in the trunk. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. The right outer tie rod boot is missing.
The cabin houses black leatherette-trimmed bucket seats with headrests, and additional appointments include a steel dashboard with a locking glove box as well as a heater, a radio blanking plate, an aftermarket chrome shift knob, and lap belts. The heater system was refurbished in 2018, and replacement door panels and carpeting were installed under current ownership. The driver’s floor mat has been removed, and there is a tear in the outer driver’s seat bolster.
A banjo-spoke steering wheel fronts a Jaeger tachometer and a replacement Smiths 120-mph speedometer, as well as gauges displaying oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. A Sunpro has been added under the dashboard, and the turn signal switch was replaced with a toggle switch on the dash. The replacement five-digit odometer shows 67k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. The instrument cluster turn signal indicators and panel light rheostat have been removed, and a replacement tachometer cable was installed in 2017.
The 1.8-liter inline-four has been retrofitted with a Weber downdraft carburetor as well as an electric fuel pump and an aftermarket coolant expansion tank. A replacement battery was installed under current ownership, per the seller.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in 2017 by Northshore Sportscars in Lake Bluff, Illinois. The clutch was replaced at that time. Areas of rust-through are visible in the floor pans near the rocker panels in a seller-provided underside video, and additional photos of the underbody condition are viewable in the gallery below.
The Wisconsin title lists an “Exempt” odometer notation.
