This 1965 Ford Mustang is a blue-over-white convertible that was refurbished in the 2010s by Bishop Custom Cars of Palm Desert, California. It is powered by a 289ci V8 mated to a C4 three-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with a white vinyl soft top and matching top boot in addition to Scott Drake lowering leaf springs, 15″ Magnum 500-style wheels, a LEED Brakes power-assisted front disc-brake conversion kit, power steering, a push-button AM radio, air conditioning, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a center console with cupholders. The car sold to its current owner on BaT in September 2023, and since that time the power steering pump, transmission pan, gear selector seal and shaft, and speedometer cable were replaced and the carburetor was rebuilt. This Mustang is now offered on consignment by Geneva Motorcars, a BaT Local Partner, with spare parts, a car cover, and a Wisconsin title.

The car left the factory finished in Caspian Blue (H) and was repainted by Bishop Custom Cars in June 2016 following replacement of the hood, doors, floor panels, and rear frame rails. Exterior features include a folding white vinyl soft top covered by a matching top boot when lowered along with bright rocker moldings, quarter vent windows, “289” badging, and chrome bumpers. Imperfections on the left-rear corner of the top are depicted in the gallery.

Chrome-finished 15″ Magnum 500-style wheels with black accents wear 205/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with power steering, Scott Drake lowering leaf springs, and power-assisted LEED Brakes front discs, and the power steering pump was replaced in 2024. The seller notes the sway bar links need replacement, the rear right wheel cylinder is leaking, and the tires are from 2014.

The interior was reupholstered in 2016 and features white vinyl seats along with a color-coordinated lower dashboard and door panels and blue carpets. Equipment includes air conditioning, a wood-rim three-spoke steering wheel, a center console with cupholders, a replacement floor shifter, polished Ford-branded sill guards, and blue lap seatbelts.

Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and engine temperature. The five-digit odometer shows under 4k  miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

Power is provided by a 289ci V8 linked to a C-4 automatic, and the previous owner replaced the coolant hoses, vacuum hoses, and radiator, and a SPAL electric fan was fitted. The current owner had the carburetor rebuilt and replaced the transmission selector shaft and seal, along with the transmission pan. The radiator was also replaced under current ownership, per the selling dealer.

The warranty number reveals the car was assembled at Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, plant and was equipped with a 289ci V8 with a two-barrel carburetor. Decoding the trim tag provides the following information:
