This 1972 Honda Z600 was purchased by the seller from the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, Tennessee, in September 2023, and it has since been driven several hundred miles. The car wears a repaint in red over gray tweed cloth, and it is powered by an air-cooled 598cc SOHC parallel-twin paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes front disc brakes, 10″ steel wheels, Honda-branded center caps, a rear glass liftgate, pop-out rear quarter windows, a bluetooth radio with four speakers, and a heater. Work under current ownership has included rebuilding the rack and pinion as well as replacing the ignition points, spark plugs, air filter, tires, and brake rotors and pads. This Z600 is now offered at no reserve with service records and a clean Iowa title in the seller’s name.
The Z600 was based on the contemporary N600 but featured a sportier coupe body style and was available in the US for the 1971 and 1972 model years. Previously finished in orange, this car now wears red paint.
The 10″ steel wheels wear Honda-branded center caps, and Falken tires were mounted recently. The seller tells us that the front brake rotors and pads have been replaced along with the rear shocks and tie rods, and the rack and pinion setup has been rebuilt.
The seating surfaces are trimmed in gray tweed with black piping, The cabin has a JVC bluetooth radio connected to four speakers, including one in each door panel. The left side of the dashboard was replaced under current ownership.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles. A ticking sound is noted from the speedometer at low speed.
The air-cooled 598cc SOHC parallel-twin is equipped with a Keihin sidedraft carburetor and was factory rated at 36 net horsepower and 31.8 lb-ft of torque. Work under current ownership has included a conversion to solid-state ignition replacing the ignition points, air filter, and spark plugs. An oil change was performed recently.
