This 1972 Land Rover 88 is a left-hand-drive Series IIA model that was produced by Metalurgica de Santa Ana S.A. in Spain, and it was acquired by the seller in 2022 before it was refurbished in Colombia in burgundy over black vinyl upholstery. A seller-provided refurbishment summary indicates that work included overhauling the four-speed manual transmission and replacing engine and transfer case seals along with assorted ignition, fuel delivery, suspension, steering, braking, and interior components. The truck was subsequently imported to the US in 2023 and registered in Virginia before being listed on BaT in August 2025. Powered by a 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four, the truck is equipped with a two-speed transfer case, 16″ steel wheels, a replacement black canvas soft top, three-across seats, inward-facing cargo-area bench seats, a removable Marshall Bluetooth speaker, sisal floor mats, and wood cargo area flooring. This Santana is now offered in the District of Columbia with a refurbishment summary and a clean Virginia title in the seller’s name.
The seller tells us the truck was dismantled before it was refinished in the current shade of burgundy, and replacement rivets were installed along replacement door seals and hardware during reassembly. The canopy frame was galvanized along with assorted exterior trim, and additional exterior details include a replacement black canvas soft top, a hood-mounted spare tire, dual fender mirrors, and a galvanized steel front bumper.
Black-finished steel wheels are mounted with 7.50-16″ Lima Caucho tires. According to the work summary in the photo gallery, two used rear leaf springs were sourced, the springs were overhauled, and a replacement steering box shaft, handbrake coupling bushing, handbrake seal, rear spring shackles, and shock absorbers were installed.
The cabin features three-across front seats and inward-facing cargo-area benches that were re-trimmed in black vinyl during the refurbishment. Wood rear cargo area planks were installed along with a fabricated speaker mount below the dashboard. Additional equipment includes a Marshall Bluetooth speaker, a replacement dashboard pad, seatbelts, windshield vents, sisal floor mats, and sliding side windows.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 150-km/h speedometer along with a combination gauge indicating coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 33k kilometers (~21k miles), approximately 1k kilometers (~621 miles) of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.25-liter inline-four was factory-equipped with a Zenith carburetor and was rated at 70 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque. Work performed between 2022 and 2023 included an oil change, inspecting the radiator, and replacing the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, ignition points and condenser, air filter hose, fuel filter, spark plugs, crankshaft seals, and spark plugs.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The gearbox was resealed and fitted with replacement synchronizer clips and spacers during the refurbishment, and the clutch disc, driveshaft universal joints, and transfer case seals were replaced at that time.
The reproduction data plate above lists a vehicle number of E45215716, which corresponds to the VIN on the current Virginia title.
