This 1978 Ford F-250 Ranger 4×4 pickup was ordered new through the Denver district sales office, and was refurbished in the late 1990s under previous ownership. The work is said to have involved a reconditioning of the drivetrain and running gear, a repaint in Dark Jade Metallic, and fitment of aftermarket bucket seats and a fold-down center console in the cab. Power is provided by a 400ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive system, and equipment further includes power-assisted front disc brakes, power steering, and cruise control. The truck is reported to have spent nearly 40 years with one owner in Wyoming until it was sold and relocated to Wisconsin in 2022. Purchased by the seller in 2026, this F-250 Ranger is now offered with a Marti report, a repair manual, a truck cover, recent service records, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.
The truck was repainted in Dark Jade Metallic approximately 30 years ago and features Ranger trim-level appointments such as chrome bumpers and low-mount Swinglock mirrors along with bright trim on the beltline, drip rails, and wheel lips. It has dual fuel tanks, a bed liner, and a receiver hitch. Areas of corrosion and other imperfections are shown in detail in the gallery.
White-painted 16″ steel wheels are mounted with Milestar Patagonia M/T tires, which were installed in September 2022. A full-size matching spare is included. The truck is equipped with power steering and locking front hubs. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The seller states that all four shock absorbers were replaced under previous ownership, and front and rear stabilizer bars were added. In November 2022, the brakes were overhauled with a replacement master cylinder, lines, calipers, rotors, and pads in addition to wheel seals.
The truck is fitted with aftermarket high-back bucket seats trimmed in gray cloth along with a vinyl-trimmed fold-down center console. Amenities include cruise control, a trailer brake controller, a high-output heater, a sliding rear window, and an AM/FM cassette stereo connected to aftermarket door speakers. The seller notes that the black carpet was recently replaced.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, charge status, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 58k miles. The seller notes that the fuel level gauge only works with the auxiliary tank, although both tanks are selectable from the factory dash-mounted switch. Simulated woodgrain trim with cracked edges is located on the steering wheel, and woodgrain trim and Ranger badging also appears on the glovebox door.
The 400ci V8 was factory rated at 169 horsepower, and it is cooled by a replacement four-core aluminum radiator. The seller tells us that the valve cover gaskets, carburetor, ignition control module, spark plug wires, and fuel pump were replaced within the last year.
Power is routed to all four wheels through a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission and a full-time transfer case. The truck is equipped with a Dana 44 front axle, Dana 60 rear axle, and a 4.10:1 gear ratio. The transfer case was overhauled in November 2025, and the U-joints and differential oils were reportedly recently replaced.
The Marti Report lists factory colors, equipment, and a production date of September 7, 1977.
