This 1978 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is said to have remained registered with the original owner until 2020 and now shows 64k miles. The car is finished in Astral Silver Metallic over black MB-Tex and is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The 4.5-liter V8 features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 180 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. The distributor cap and washer pump were replaced in July 2023, the alternator was replaced in November 2024, and the water pump, thermostat gaskets, and hoses were replaced in January 2025, at which time a coolant change was performed. The air conditioning has been converted to utilize R134a refrigerant.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The axle seals and differential were re-sealed in September 2019.
