This 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra was acquired by the seller in 2014 and it was subsequently restored in 2015 by R and R Performance in Cambridge, Maryland. Work consisted of re-trimming the cabin, stripping and repainting the body in black, overhauling the air conditioning, suspension, and brakes, and rebuilding the 302ci V8, five-speed manual transmission, and Traction-Lok rear axle. The car is equipped with the optional Preferred Equipment Package, a sunroof, 17″ turbine-style alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, aftermarket mufflers, a rear spoiler, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, air conditioning, power windows, and a CD stereo. This Fox-body Cobra is now offered with an SVT Certificate, the manufacturer’s literature, a restoration invoice, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
The car was stripped and repainted in black circa 2015 and it features a sunroof, fog lights, a raised rear spoiler, Cobra badging, and polished dual exhaust tips.
Turbine-style 17″ alloy wheels are mounted with 245/45 Goodyear Eagle ZR45 tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and SVT-specific suspension components included custom-valved Tokico shocks and struts along with revised springs and sway bars. The suspension, steering, and brake systems were reportedly overhauled during the 2015 refurbishment.
The front bucket seats and rear bench were re-trimmed in Opal Grey leather upholstery with color-coordinated carpets and interior trim in 2015. Amenities include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a CD stereo, as well as the optional Preferred Equipment Package, which added air conditioning along with power windows, mirrors, and door locks.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,900-rpm redline as well as gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 73 miles which is said to represent mileage since the refurbishment was completed. The latest Carfax mileage entry displays 205k miles.
The 302ci OHV V8 was reportedly rebuilt in 2015 and it features a Cobra-specific upper intake manifold and camshaft as well as a 65mm throttle body, GT40 cast-iron cylinder heads, and aluminum roller rockers. Factory-rated output was 235 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner T5 five-speed manual transmission paired with a Traction-Lok rear axle with 3.55:1 Ford Racing gears, both of which were reportedly rebuilt in 2015 and have accrued less than 100 miles.
The Ford Special Vehicle Team certificate lists the VIN, build date, and a build number 78 of 4,993.
The Carfax report displays Branded “EXCEEDS MECHANICAL LIMITS” title issuances.
