Manav Suthar continues to shine for Warwickshire

Warwickshire registered an emphatic win - by an innings and 257 runs - in their County Championship fixture against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. Ethan Bamber and Ed Barnard starred with the ball, picking up a five-for each, to bowl the hosts out for 69 and 65 in the two innings respectively. Suthar also made an impact with his left-arm spin.

While the quicks did the bulk of the damage, the India spinner bowled only 15 deliveries in the game without conceding a single run and also picked up three wickets. Suthar castled Mir Hamza on the third delivery of his first over to close out Glamorgan’s first innings for 69 runs. The 24-year-old then picked up two wickets in an over in the second innings, dismissing Chris Cooke and Jamie Mcllroy, and finished with figures of 2-0 in two overs. Interestingly, all three of his wickets were bowled.

What a spell 🪄

Suthar has been in terrific form with the ball this season. He starred on Test debut against Afghanistan with seven wickets, including a six-for, before picking up 16 wickets in two Tests against Sri Lanka. In four rounds of the County Championship for Warwickshire, he has accounted for 21 scalps in eight innings, including a five-for against Somerset. He has also contributed 123 runs down the order in five innings, with 37 being his best score.

Suthar is also expected to feature in the two remaining games of the season, against Essex and Leicestershire, as Warwickshire continue their push for the County Championship title. They are on top of the Division One points table with 184 points after 12 matches, 11 more than the second-placed Somerset, who have an ongoing game against Leicestershire.
