Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, has argued that Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi is positioned to defeat President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV, Amadi said the electoral map does not guarantee victory for Tinubu or Atiku, stressing that Nigerian youths are increasingly rallying behind Obi.
He noted that Tinubu’s 2023 campaign benefited from his reputation as the man who “fixed Lagos,” but insisted that Obi’s momentum, particularly among young voters, has shifted the political landscape.
Amadi further claimed that if the 2023 election had been free and fair, Obi would have emerged victorious. “In the last election, Peter Obi had almost more than half of the electorate on his side. There were clear indications that he won in Rivers, Plateau and some Northern states but INEC didn’t declare him winner,” he said.
He added that the restiveness and political disruption during the 2020 EndSARS protests created a milestone moment for Obi, reinforcing the demand for new leadership.
