If happiness is like a seed, you must nurture it the same way in order for it to blossom. You must water it, care for it, and give it the energy it needs to bloom into a full flower. If your soul is your garden, and happiness is your plant, then what is the sunshine? Cat memes, obviously.

I've always lived my life by two very impurrtant rules: you cannot move when a cat is snuggling you/obstructing you from moving, and that happiness is a choice. The first rule doesn't really need explaining, but the second one seems to strike a chord with people, so give me the chance to explain.

We've been taught that happiness happens to us. You get a promotion - happy! You find $20 in your pocket - happy! You get all green lights on your normally traffic-filled commute - happy! But true happiness comes from accepting your reality as it is and nurturing pawsitivity. Let's say that instead of getting all green lights, you get all red ones. You get stuck behind a slow driver that you can't pass. You can choose to get frustrated at your situation because you're late, you're tired, etc, or… you can choose to accept that you might arrive a little late today. Enjoy the slow drive to work. Pump your favorite song on the radio. Have a dance party in your car while no one is watching. If you nurture your pawsitivity and acceptance, it will turn into happiness, but it has to be a conscious choice.

There's one thing that always helps my happiness blossom into a garden of joy - feline funnies. They're overwhelmingly pawsitive and remind me that nothing in life is as serious as we make it out to be. They remind me to laugh at the little things. I choose to scroll through my furvorite cat memes every day to keep my soul-garden full of giggles, sunshine, and optimism. You might find that doing the same makes your days happier as well.
