I remember my first expurrience finding my cat sleeping in a position that looked like someone threw her body parts in a blender (figuratively, of course), and she came out looking like some sort of misshapen pretzel. I was sure that she had gotten herself stuck somehow and could barely breathe because her spine was so contorted that her lungs must be collapsing. I rushed to her, only to realize she was sleeping deeper than baby, and woke up on my arrival with the sweetest chorus of meows and chirps. She unfolded her feline body as if nothing happened, then curled up on my lap and fell back asleep. I was shocked.
Over the years, I found her in increasingly funny positions. Sleeping, sunken in between couch cushions, relaxing with her two front legs dangling off the ends of the couch, and even falling asleep on top of the metal radiator, with her fluff sinking in between the uncomfortable metal ridges. She was the one who taught me that cats are part liquid, and can turn their bones into noodles. Figuratively, of course.
Now, as a seasoned cat owner, instead of rushing to save them from whatever position they've found themselves in, I rush to take out my camera and snap a quick pic. What new, nefariously noodle-like position will I find them in next? What unexplainable pose will they find "comfortable" enough to fall asleep in? The awwpportunities are endless, and each new configuration of cat brings me unbridled joy and a silly smile to my face.
That's why, on purrticularly bad days, I like to look at photos that people take of their cats in ridiculous positions. Some look as flabbergasted as we feel, some are purrfectly content, and others are so sound asleep that you'll look at them and think "How is that even pawssible?" Whether you're having a bad day or not, I'm sure you'll love these flexible felines and add them to your collection of silly cattos for when you need a boost of pawsitivity for your mental health.
