If you were hoping to upgrade your old Apple TV 4K with a new 4th-gen model today, you’re probably a bit bemused by the new price tag. It now costs $299 to get a new Apple TV 4K, higher than it’s ever cost before. And other than a new chip, there’s not all that much new about ir.
But the Siri Remote is a surprisingly big update, bringing Find My with Precision Finding with an iPhone Air, iPhone 17, 17 Pro/Pro Max, or iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max, and the upcoming iPhone Duo. Find My has been on the Siri Remote since the 2nd generation, but Precision Finding is new. Also new is a built-in speaker so you can play a sound to quickly locate the device when it gets stuck in a coach cushion.
Precision Finding gives you a better idea of the location of your 4th generation Siri Remote.

Everything else about the new Siri Remote is the same has the previous model: same size and design, same clickwheel, same USB-C port for charging, and the same support for use with a Mac. But now that Apple TV 4K supports the new Siri AI, so you actually might use it more.
But here’s the best: the new Siri Remote is compatible with all previous versions of the Apple TV 4K and even goes all the way back to the 2015 Apple TV HD. So you don’t have to buy a new 4th gen Apple TV 4K to get the best part of this upgrade. If you have a your 2nd or 3rd-gen Apple TV, you’ll even get the new Siri. Just buy a new remote for $59/£59, and it’ll be like you got a whole new Apple TV.
