So guys, I finally hit 300 rating on chess.com. I only started playing chess last week.
Honestly, I'm not good yet. Most of my wins came because opponents quit mid-game or made one big blunder. My only real "skill" so far is that I don't hang pieces or give them away for free, and that's what got me here.
Now I'm starting to face tougher players and I can feel my rating is at risk. My biggest problem is piece development. I don't know how to bring my pieces out in a good order, so my games feel messy after the first few moves.
Some questions:
>What's the best beginner-friendly opening for White and for Black? I'd rather learn simple principles than memorize long lines.
>Which free resources helped you most at this stage (YouTube channels, chess.com lessons, books)?
Should I focus on puzzles or on analyzing my own games first?
>Any tips for turning winning positions into actual wins? I sometimes let them slip. I lost tons of game when i was in a good position but i would do stalemate.
