This 1972 Dodge Demon 340 was purchased by the seller in 2020, and a rebuilt Mopar 360ci V8 and a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission were installed in 2025 along with an 8¾” Sure Grip differential with 3.55:1 gears. In addition, the brakes were converted to a four-wheel-disc setup, and the suspension was updated with control-arm stiffening plates, front and rear sway bars, and KYB gas shocks. The car was repainted in purple under prior ownership, and bolstered reclining front bucket seats were installed. The body features black stripes, a front air dam, a rear wing, blacked-out side-marker lights, and black bumpers. Other equipment includes American Muscle 18″ wheels, power steering, a Summit carburetor, an aluminum radiator, an electric cooling fan, tubular exhaust headers, a transmission cooler, and an aluminum transmission pan plus a B&M shifter, woodgrain interior trim, and aftermarket auxiliary gauges. This modified H-code Demon is now offered with a car cover and Georgia registration in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Black (TX9), the car was repainted in Plum Crazy in 2018, according to the seller. Black stripes stretch the length of the body sides, and the same hue also highlights the front air dam, the grille, the side-marker-light lenses, the rear wing, the tail panel, and the bumpers. Other features include Demon badging, fender-mounted turn-signal monitors, a driver-side mirror, pop-out rear-quarter windows, and bright trim. The turn signals have been converted to LED lighting. The passenger-side fender is dented, imperfections are noted in the stripes, and bubbling paint and rust are evident on the lower portions of the doors and in the rocker and quarter panels, as pictured in the gallery below.
American Muscle 18″ wheels are mounted with Venezia Crusader HP front tires and Kenda Vezda UHP rear tires, all measuring 275/35. Power-assisted disc brakes with slotted and vented rotors and performance-oriented pads were installed in May 2025. During the same service period, the suspension was fitted with front and rear sway bars, KYB gas shocks, Moog front-end components, and lower-control-arm stiffening plates. The car is equipped with power steering.
Bolstered aftermarket front bucket seats trimmed in black cloth were installed in 2018 along with replacement carpeting, the seller tells us. Other interior appointments include woodgrain trim, a B&M StarShifter T-handle shifter, and three-point front seatbelts. The rear bench seat is upholstered in black vinyl and offers lap belts. The interior door panels exhibit flaws and dents, and the dashboard top is worn.
A trio of Bosch gauges beneath the dash monitors oil pressure, water temperature, and voltage. An Equus Pro Tach tachometer is secured to the steering column. A radio is no longer present in the dashboard.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer and supplementary gauges; the factory gauges do not work. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, and true mileage is unknown. The seller estimates that 2,500 miles have been driven under current ownership.
The 360ci V8 was rebuilt and installed in this car in May 2025, per the seller, who notes that the engine yields a compression ratio around 10:1 and retains a steel crankshaft. The V8 is also augmented by a Summit Racing four-barrel carburetor, Mopar Performance valve covers, an open-element air cleaner, a Be Cool aluminum radiator, an auxiliary electric cooling fan, and tubular headers.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt and installed in May 2025 and features an auxiliary cooler and a high-volume aluminum pan. Also installed in May 2025 is a Chrysler 8¾” rear end that works in conjunction with a “742” center section, a Sure Grip limited-slip differential, 3.55:1 gears, and DoctorDiff chromoly axle shafts with green bearings. The dual exhaust system terminates ahead of the rear axle. Rust holes and other corrosion are visible on underbody components.
The fender tag indicates that the vehicle is a Dodge Demon coupe (LM29) that left the factory equipped with a 340ci V8 featuring a four-barrel carburetor (E55) along with a three-speed automatic transmission (D34). The tag also reveals that the car was originally finished in Black (TX9) with black body-side stripes (V5X) over bench seats upholstered in gold vinyl (F4Y3).
The vehicle is being sold on its Georgia registration, which serves as the ownership document in Georgia.
