India posted a competitive 182-6 after being asked to bat in the first Youth ODI that was reduced to 20 overs due to rain. Aaryavir Sehwag, the son of former India opener Virendra Sehwag, scored 28 off 26 deliveries before getting dismissed in the seventh over. From 45-0, they fell to 88-4 within 12 overs, when Anvay Dravid walked in to bat.
Dravid, son of Rahul Dravid, stitched a 69-run stand for the fifth wicket with Yashbardhan Chauhan, who scored 54 off 34 deliveries. After three singles and a double off his first four deliveries, Dravid hit a four on the last ball of the 13th over. India scored 22 off the 14th and then added 25 more runs in the next two overs.
The 17-year-old struck a six and a four off Thomas Vaseo in the 16th over before being dismissed by the same bowler in the 18th. His 18-ball 38 contained three sixes and two fours and came at a strike rate of 211.11.
India ended up winning the game by seven runs, despite skipper Jack Czosnek's 27-ball 55. Chauhan also picked up two wickets to cap off a brilliant all-round showing.
Dravid made his Youth ODI debut in July this year, making 87 in the second game against Sri Lanka. He had top-scored in the innings, as India posted 285 at Hambantota.
