Abdeslam Ouaddou has made Orlando Pirates history after extending the club’s remarkable unbeaten run in the Betway Premiership.

The Soweto giant’s head coach has now overseen 20 consecutive league matches without defeat, becoming the first coach in the club’s PSL history to achieve the feat.

Orlando Pirates’ unbeaten run stretches back to February 2026, with Ouaddou’s side recording 15 wins and five draws during the remarkable sequence.

The achievement moves Ouaddou clear of some of the club’s most successful coaches when it comes to extended unbeaten league runs.

Ouaddou’s 20-match unbeaten run is now the longest in Orlando Pirates’ PSL history.

The previous record was held by Dutch coach Ruud Krol, who guided Orlando Pirates through a 19-match unbeaten league run in 2009.

Ted Dumitru and Kosta Papic are next on the list, having each overseen 17-match unbeaten league runs.

The top four longest unbeaten league runs at Orlando Pirates are:

  • 20 – Abdeslam Ouaddou
  • 19 – Ruud Krol (2009)
  • 17 – Ted Dumitru (1999)
  • 17 – Kosta Papic (2005)

Ouaddou’s record comes during an impressive period for the Buccaneers, who have established themselves as one of the leading forces in South African football.

The unbeaten sequence has also strengthened Orlando Pirates’ away credentials, with the club continuing to avoid defeat on the road.

The achievement adds another notable milestone to Ouaddou’s tenure and comes as the Buccaneers continue their push at the top end of the Betway Premiership.

Following their 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants on Sunday, the Buccaneers are now second in the standings with 19 points, one point behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, but will a game in hand.

Due to the upcoming FIFA international break, Orlando Pirates’ next Betway Premiership match is only scheduled for Sunday, 18 October at the Orlando Amstel Arena against TS Galaxy.
