Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will lock horns in the opening game of the ODI tri-series. All the matches of the series will be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and will get underway at 3:30pm local time (5pm IST, 12:30pm UK time). Every team will play the other once in league stage before the top two sides in the points table make it to the final, scheduled for Friday, October 23.

All three teams will be keen to begin their preparation for the ODI World Cup o a positive note, with less than a year to go for the showpiece event. Bangladesh last featured in the format in July this year when they lost a three-match series to Zimbabwe 2-1. However, they will hope for change in results under Litton Das’ captaincy.

Afghanistan trumped Ireland 4-0 in their previous ODI series in August and their spinners will remain a threat on the slow pitches in Abu Dhabi. As for Zimbabwe, they lost the three-match series to Australia 3-0 at home but pushed them to the brink in the final game. They will also take heart from the fact that they defeated Bangladesh in a three-match series in July.
