Alan Ritchson is in talks to star in an upcoming Helldivers adaptation. The report comes after a major A-lister walked out of the project.
Sony is reportedly in talks to cast Ritchson in its upcoming adaptation of Arrowhead Game Studios’ popular video game franchise Helldivers. The Reacher star is set to replace Jason Momoa, who exited the project in June for “creative differences” (via The Hollywood Reporter).
However, Sony has not made any official comments about Ritchson’s potential casting. The actor would reportedly play one of the Helldivers, as further cast details are awaited. Meanwhile, plot details remain under wraps.
Ritchson recently reprised his role as Jack Reacher in the fourth season of the Prime Video show as well as the spin-off series Neagley. He has previously starred in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Fast X, Runner, War Machine, and more. The actor’s upcoming films include the Christmas action comedy The Man with the Bag, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Sony’s upcoming adaptation will be directed by Justin Lin. He is also producing through his Perfect Storm Entertainment alongside Hutch Parker and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash.
Lin is best known for directing several movies from the Fast & Furious franchise. These include The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, F9, and Fast X. He has also directed episodes of notable television series such as Community, True Detective, S.W.A.T., Magnum P.I., and more.
The feature adaptation of Helldivers is scheduled for release on November 10, 2027.
