Filmmaker Richard Kelly will be joining us here in r/movies for an AMA/Q&A tomorrow, Wednesday 9/30. It'll go live tomorrow morning at around 9 AM ET, and he'll be back at 5 PM ET to answer questions. Richard wrote and directed the all-time cult-classic-favorite Donnie Darko as his debut, and then went on to write/direct Southland Tales, The Box, and produce other films.
Please join us tomorrow if you have questions for Richard :)
Donnie Darko is being re-released in theaters for its 25th anniversary on Oct 2nd thru Oct 4th from Fathom Events with a new 4K restoration. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Drew Barrymore, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Daveigh Chase, Patrick Swayze, Noah Wyle, Katherine Ross, Seth Rogen, James Duval, and Mary McDonnell.
During the presidential election of 1988, a teenager named Donnie Darko sleepwalks out of his house one night and sees a giant, demonic-looking rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world will end in 28 days. When Donnie returns home, he finds that a jet engine has crashed into his bedroom. Is Donnie living in a parallel universe, is he suffering from mental illness - or will the world really end?
