NetEase and developer Naked Rain finally put a release date on ANANTA at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The free-to-play urban open-world RPG release date is set for January 15th, 2027 on PlayStation 5, PC and mobile.

ANANTA release date confirmed

The announcement came with a new story trailer introducing Lingyun City, the second major playable city in the game alongside the previously revealed Nova City. The trailer gave a broader look at what the game actually is, blending open-world urban exploration with martial arts combat, hover cars, stealth missions and a central premise built around becoming an internet influencer to save the world. Yes, really.

Over 17 million players have pre-registered across 110 countries since the game’s Gamescom 2023 debut, which suggests the concept is landing despite how unusual it sounds on paper.

Back in October 2025, we reported that NetEase had confirmed a cosmetics-only monetisation model with no character gacha system. It’s quite interesting considering other types of character RPGs like this often tend to be gacha related It is quite the departure from the norm for a free-to-play title of this scale. Characters are unlocked through story progression rather than loot boxes, with spending limited to outfits, vehicle customisation and player housing.

That reporting has now been reconfirmed by the Gamescom announcement itself. Though, its not a surprise, with NetEase doing Where Winds Meet, and placing the money-making potential from the gacha cosmetics on weapons cosmetics.

As fro the story, it centers on a character called Captain, a member of a struggling peacekeeping agency called the ACD, who must rebuild the organisation while investigating the disappearance of their father. It uses a influencer and content creator type angle to explore the city with, all the while meeting new characters, completing main story missions and much more.

Pre-registration is live on the game’s website ahead of the January 15th launch, where you can expect the usual pre-registration milestone and rewards.
