An Emmy-nominated Apple TV show has been greenlit for another season. The French-language show has been renewed after receiving an Emmy nomination in the Best Drama Series category this year.
Apple TV has announced that the provocative historical drama Carême will receive a second season. The eight-episode series is based on the real story of the first-ever celebrity chef of the early 19th century, Antonin Carême.
The official synopsis reads, “Antonin Carême rose from humble beginnings in Paris to the height of culinary stardom in Napoleon’s Europe. While he dreams only of becoming the most famous chef in the world, his talent and ambitions attract the attention of renowned and powerful politicians, who use him as a spy for France. Determined to escape poverty and fulfill his dream, Carême can choose revenge, or he can have it all — women, wealth, fame — but at what cost? His love? His soul? His life?”
What has Apple TV revealed about Carême season 2?The International Emmy Award-nominated French drama’s Season 2 will begin filming next week in Paris. César Award winner Benjamin Voisin is set to reprise his role as the titular character.
Moreover, the acclaimed director Martin Bourboulon, known for The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan, will return to direct Season 2. In addition, César Award nominee Jérémie Rénier is set to reprise his role as Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord. Alice Da Luz will return as Agathe.
The Apple TV show is based on the book Carême: Cooking for Kings: The Life of the First Celebrity Chef, written by the multi-award-winning historian, playwright and screenwriter Ian Kelly. Kelly also created the show alongside Davide Serino. Executive producers include Vanessa van Zuylen and Dominique Farrugia.
Carême was first released on Apple TV on April 30, 2025, and earned rave reviews online. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently holds a 95% Tomatometer score. Season 1 is available to stream on the streamer.
