India opened its gold medal account at the Asian Games 2026 as the women’s cricket team defeated Sri Lanka to successfully defend its title. Smriti Mandhana led the way with 79 as India posted 216/3 before securing a dominant win in the final. Elsewhere, India also assured medals in badminton and wushu, while continuing its strong run in kabaddi and hockey.
