A Ball State football player was stretchered off the field during the Cardinals' road game at Liberty Saturday, Sept. 19.
Gabe Aramboles, a second-year defensive back for the Cardinals, took an awkward hit to the head while trying to make a tackle on the opening kickoff of the second half. He remained down on the field and appeared to be grabbing at his head or neck area when the Ball State medical staff arrived to him.
The game was stopped, and both teams took a knee as Aramboles was tended to. According to the ESPN broadcast, he had movement in his legs and arms while down on the field before he was placed on the stretcher and taken off with his head and neck stabilized.

Shortly after the injury, the broadcast provided another update stating that Aramboles had movement in his arms and fingers and had feeling in his legs in the ambulance.
