Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has announced the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council for Kano North ahead of the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Barau, who represents Kano North in the Senate, urged the council to intensify grassroots mobilisation through house-to-house engagement across the district.
His media aide, Ismail Mudashir, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.The council will be chaired by Engineer Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, Managing Director of the Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and former Secretary to the Kano State Government.
Dr Ali Haruna Makoda, the state Commissioner for Education, was named deputy chairman, while Surveyor Nadu Yahaya, a former Surveyor General of the Federation, will serve as secretary.

Additional members such as Dr Kabiru Ado Zakirai, Ahmed Haruna Bichi, and Idris Unguwar Rimi were appointed deputy secretaries, while Yusuf Yusuf Tabuka, Auwalu Ibrahim Danzabuwa, Ali Ado Bagwai, and Ali Gumawa will serve as deputy directors-general.
The council also named chairmen and co-chairmen for all 13 local government areas in Kano North, including Shanono, Bagwai, Gwarzo, Kabo, Rimin Gado, Tofa, Dawakin Tofa, Bichi, Ghari, Tsanyawa, Dambatta, Makoda, and Gabasawa.
Barau emphasised that the APC’s campaign should highlight the administration’s achievements across critical sectors, urging members to communicate these successes directly to constituents.
According to the statement, zonal campaign committees will include serving and former governors, deputy governors, senators, House of Representatives members, party executives, and political appointees.
Local government and ward committees will comprise councillors, elders, and other stakeholders.
