The Fiidi Council Ward Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State, Hon. Igbu Terhemen, has been killed in what authorities suspect was a violent attack by unknown assailants.

Terhemen reportedly left home Tuesday evening to watch a local football match in the Kanshio area but never returned.

Concerned family and friends began searching for him, only to discover his unconscious body around 2 a.m. Wednesday in a bush near his residence by the NNPC Depot along Makurdi–Otukpo Road.

He died before medical help could be secured.Witnesses noted a needle-like injury on his body, raising suspicions that he may have been injected with a poisonous substance.

His mobile phone was found intact, suggesting robbery was not the motive. The Benue State chapter of the NDC condemned the killing, describing Terhemen as a dedicated party member. State Publicity Secretary Agile Bem alleged that the attackers tied him with ropes, injected him, and abandoned him to die.

State Chairman Ohini Ojegbe called the incident “broad-daylight evil” and urged security agencies to launch a full investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command stated it had not yet received an official report on the incident.
