The probability of Blade Runner 2099 season 2 being made might be low right now, but there is still some hope. This was recently teased by Silka Luisa, who created the first season of the upcoming miniseries, in an interview with Polygon.
When asked if she and the team were thinking about making season 2 of Blade Runner 2099 at all, Luisa said, “We originally sold the show as a limited series. This is a cinematic property. We have to retain some sense of filmic storytelling.”
At the same time, she teased that there’s still hope. The creator of this highly anticipated installment of the Blade Runner franchise said, “Obviously, there’s always hope that audiences love the world and the characters and that it could continue. But in terms of this first series, it is a complete story within itself. That was really important.”
So even though Blade Runner 2099 Season 2 is not confirmed, fans might as well still hold onto hope.
Who stars in Blade Runner 2099?The main cast of Blade Runner 2099 includes Michelle Yeoh as Olwen, a Replicant Blade Runner in the final days of her life; Hunter Schafer as Cora, Olwen’s partner and a human pretending to be a replicant; Dimitri Abold; and Lewis Gribben.
Meanwhile, the recurring cast includes the likes of Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, Maurizio Lombardi, Hugo Hamlet (as Buster Friendly), and Wil Coban (as Hodge).
The 8-episode action-thriller miniseries is a sequel to the films Blade Runner (1982) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017), set 50 years after the events of the last movie and 80 years after the original. Set in Los Angeles, it shows Replicants as the power brokers in the city, while humans have become second-class citizens after an uprising.
Blade Runner 2099 is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 25, 2026.
