Blue Beetle star Xolo Maridueña has shared his thoughts on the character’s DCU return in the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow. He played the superhero character Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle in the 2023 movie, helmed by Angel Manuel Soto.
During his recent appearance on the SiriusXM show Radio Andy, host Andy Cohen asked Xolo Maridueña if he had any updates on his role in Man of Tomorrow. “Have you seen a script?”
However, the young actor smartly kept things under wraps without revealing any details. “No, I can’t say anything about Blue Beetle coming back in any project. But what I will say is that I was so happy to have this experience before getting to come back as Blue Beetle.”
The 25-year-old star added, “I definitely find myself getting more nervous as the steps progress in my career and in my journey. And I think having such a warm experience like this over the last summer was the perfect segue into getting to be a part of another great ensemble.”
What other superheroes are appearing in Man of Tomorrow besides Blue Beetle?Man of Tomorrow will bring back David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman from last year’s Superman. The cast will also see the return of other familiar faces, including Nicholas Hoult as the villain Lex Luthor.
The film will see Superman and Lex team up despite their conflicts. They will try to stop a bigger threat in Brainiac. Played by Lars Eidinger, the supervillain will make his live-action debut in a DC movie. Full details about the storyline are still being kept under wraps.
Rachel Brosnahan will also return as Lois Lane, alongside Milly Alcock as Supergirl in a cameo role. Alcock recently appeared in her own solo DCU film, which was released in June 2026.
Other key cast members include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart/Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, among others.
Man of Tomorrow hits theaters on July 9, 2027.
