The Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 45-year-old Bracebridge, Ont., man with impaired driving and four other charges after a car ended up in a ditch near an elementary school zone.

The OPP says on Tuesday around 10:20 a.m., Bracebridge officers, along with Muskoka EMS and the Bracebridge Fire Department, responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Cedar Lane near an elementary school in Bracebridge, in a school zone.

The vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree and the driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

David Grand also faces two counts each of operating while prohibited and driving while under suspension.

He is one of three drivers charged by the Bracebridge Detachment of OPP with impaired driving-related offences.

Ingersoll man hit with charges after rollover

The Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 26-year-old from Ingersoll, Ont., following a single vehicle rollover on Thursday.

Caledon officers responded around 10 a.m. to a commercial motor vehicle rollover on Escarpment Sideroad, near Willoughby Rd. in Caledon.

As a result of the collision, the vehicle driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the vehicle spilled a load of gravel as well as a small amount of fuel.

The Ministry of Environment attended the scene, and the roadway has since been reopened.

The driver was charged with disobeying a sign and careless driving .

Two suspects sought in robbery

Toronto Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects in a robbery investigation.

Cops say on Aug. 1, around 12:25 p.m., police responded to a call for a robbery in the area of Bayview Ave. and Eglinton Ave. where it was reported the suspects attended a gas station in the area.

Police say the first suspect entered the gas station and selected several items before threatening the staff member with an edged weapon and leaving with the items.

Both suspects fled the area on a navy blue moped.

Suspect No. 1 is described as approximately 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with a thin build, shoulder-length brown hair, dark thin moustache, wearing a beige hooded sweatshirt, blue track pants, grey running shoes, white gloves, and a black helmet.

Suspect No. 2 is described as approximately 25-30 years old, thin build, brown/red long hair in a ponytail, wearing a dark black/blue dress with brown sandals and a pink backpack with tattoos on her upper right arm, right forearm, right hand and upper left arm.

Halton cops searching for hit-and-run driver

Halton police are appealing to the public in an effort to identify a hit-and-run driver.

Police say on July 10, around 9:50 a.m., a teenage male pedestrian was crossing through the intersection of Appleby Line and Dundas St. in Burlington when he was struck by a vehicle attempting to turn onto Dundas St.

The driver stopped and quickly spoke with the male before continuing east on Dundas St.

The male attended hospital, where it was found he had sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle is described as a light-coloured, medium-sized SUV, possibly a Subaru Forester or Outback, and the vehicle driver is described as a female, white, with light coloured hair, approximately 5-foot-5 and 40 to 50 years of age.

Burlington hit-and-run being investigated

Halton cops are investigating a hit-and-run collision in Burlington on Oct. 7 around 11:25 p.m.

Police say an adult male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle travelling westbound on Fairview St., just east of Brant St., and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The collision occurred in the right (curb) lane of Fairview St. and the vehicle did not remain at the scene and was last seen speeding westbound on Fairview St.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-coloured, compact-sized SUV and the driver and passenger were both described as males, approximately 20 years old.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have information or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the collision, is asked to contact police.
