The Milwaukee Brewers have officially named Jacob Misiorowski their starting pitcher for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The hard-throwing right-hander will take the mound Sunday night at American Family Field as Milwaukee looks to get off to a strong start in a rematch of last year’s NLCS.

Here are the details of this year’s game one.

Misiorowski has emerged as one of the Brewers’ biggest weapons this season, and the team will need him at his best against a loaded Dodgers lineup. The 24-year-old has been dominant throughout the regular season, establishing himself as one of baseball’s premier pitchers. His fastball has also become one of the most talked-about pitches in the game, reaching 104.8 mph during his NL Division Series start against the San Diego Padres. That was the fastest pitch recorded in the postseason during the pitch-tracking era, which began in 2008.

The Padres fouled off 30 pitches through the first four innings, forcing Misiorowski to work hard before he exited in the fifth inning after throwing 88 pitches. Still, Milwaukee has shown confidence in its young ace by handing him the ball for the opening game of the NLCS.

There is also reason for optimism when looking at Misiorowski’s history against Los Angeles. Across three career appearances against the Dodgers, including two regular-season starts and a relief outing in last year’s NLCS, he has recorded a 1.59 ERA with 27 strikeouts and just three walks over 17 innings. Those numbers give Milwaukee another reason to feel good about its choice for Game 1.

The matchup will feature Misiorowski against Dodgers left-hander Tarik Skubal, who is scheduled to start for Los Angeles. Game 1 is set for Sunday at 7 p.m. CT on FOX.

For the Brewers, this series is another opportunity to get past a Dodgers team that has had their number in year’s past. Milwaukee has made it back to the same stage and now has home-field advantage to begin the series. With Misiorowski rested and ready, the Brewers will look to make an early statement and take the first step toward reaching the World Series.
