Aren't we all just a hash brown away from family drama?

What seemed to be a joyful and unexpected family breakfast gathering turns into a massive disagreement when the bill comes back higher than expected (at least, for half the party). Here's the context: A sibling, their sister, and their brother-in-law decided to go out to their usual diner to have some breakfast. Here's the thing, though: The sibling is usually the one to pick up the bill (for the past 8 years, may we add). This might already be a problem starter on its own, as efforts might feel a little unbalanced.

Money has always been a delicate subject, especially when it comes to family and friends. This story is certainly not the exception. Let's just be glad that there is some love involved in this unfortunate encounter. However, there are two perspectives here: when someone invites you to do anything, it might be polite to hold back on the expenses a bit, out of consideration. Nonetheless, if you have been the one paying the bills no questions asked, it feels like you get a free pass when it comes to testing the other side of the waters.
