Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, has praised Edo Queens, Rivers United, Shooting Stars and El-Kanemi Warriors for their impressive performances in CAF competitions.

Edo Queens claimed the WAFU B Women’s Champions League title on Saturday night in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

The reigning Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, champions defeated Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies 4-1 on penalties after the game ended 2-2 in regulation time.

The victory earned Edo Queens a spot in this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League finals.

“The NFF is very proud of the achievement of Edo Queens. It is no mean a feat, as they had to do battles with equally-ambitious and focused teams,” Ikpeme was quoted by the NFF media.

Ikpeme also commended Rivers United for earning a 1-1 draw against FC San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire in their CAF Champions League first preliminary round, first leg match in Abidjan on Saturday.

The NFF scribe further applauded CAF Confederation Cup candidates Shooting Stars and El-Kanemi Warriors for winning their matches.

He expressed confidence that Shooting Stars have the quality to withstand CS Sfaxien in the return leg in Tunisia, and urged El-Kanemi Warriors not to relent ahead of their trip to Guinea-Bissau.

Ikpeme also called on Enugu Rangers to go to Benin Republic and secure the result that would see them qualify for the second round.
