Prominent Nigerian cleric Primate Babatunde Ayodele has urged President Bola Tinubu to scrap the planned Independence Day parade on October 1, warning that proceeding with the event could invite danger.
In a video shared on X ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary, Ayodele said: “October 1st, President Tinubu should cancel the parade. If he attempts to go ahead with it, there is danger in it.”
The spiritual leader also advised Nigerians not to accept gifts or inducements from politicians in the run-up to the 2027 general elections.
He called on voters to follow their conscience and choose candidates they believe will genuinely serve the people’s interests.“And to Nigerians, don’t collect anything from any politician because of the election.
Vote your conscience. Vote for the right people. Vote for people who will truly serve the interest of the people,” he stated.Ayodele further encouraged citizens to remain prayerful and vigilant as the country marks Independence Day.
