CBS Mornings has brought back one of its popular, high-profile hosts. The addition comes as part of the recent network shakeup at CBS News.

According to a recent update from The Hollywood Reporter, Norah O’Donnell will be co-hosting the network’s flagship program, CBS Mornings. O’Donnell, who was previously part of the program from 2012-2019, will join Gayle King and Nate Burleson. Following the conclusion of her tenure with the evening newscast, the 52-year-old often served as a stand-in anchor since 2024. She was also named as a contributor on 60 Minutes recently.

Reflecting on O’Donnell coming back, CBS Mornings’ EP Jon Tower said in a memo, “This is a homecoming for Norah. As we all know, for seven years, Norah helped lead CBS This Morning alongside Gayle, creating one of the most memorable partnerships in the history of morning news.”

Tower also elaborated on the friendship and mutual bonding O’Donnell, King, and Burleson share. The CBS Mornings EP added, “They have a friendship and chemistry that extends beyond the studio. They know each other, respect each other, and — maybe most importantly — genuinely enjoy each other. To put it simply, I can’t think of a team I’d rather watch navigate the news than Gayle, Nate and Norah.”

Bari Weiss reshapes the CBS News lineup with more high-profile changes

Bari Weiss became the Editor-in-Chief for CBS News in October 2025, per The Guardian. In the last 10 months, Weiss, as the chief editor, has introduced several other changes in CBS News’ programs.

Weiss moved Tony Dokoupil from his previous program and included him in the Evening News slot. Adding to that, Weiss made some major changes to 60 Minutes, as the show now has a new executive producer, Nick Bilton. Furthermore, British commentator Sir Trevor Phillips has joined the lineup of 60 Minutes.

Compared to the changes that have been introduced for other shows, the morning show has remained relatively unchanged. While O’Donnell is joining in, King has signed a new one-year contract. Although the morning show lineup will see a change with Norah O’Donnell’s return, the existing team is not being replaced. Vlad Duthiers, Kelly O’Grady, and Adriana Diaz will appear on the show regularly.
