Checkers has quietly reintroduced a discontinued chocolate brand – Nestle’s Caravan – back onto shelves – for a limited period.
CHECKERS BRINGS BACK CARAVAN CHOCOLATE!A week ago, Checkers polled its customers on which discontinued chocolate it should bring back to shelves. The options included: Beacon’s New Look and FFWD, Nestle’s Caravan and Cadbury’s 7777.
Although they did not reveal the poll results, consumers have reported finding the Chocolate bar, paired with Nestle’s Tex, on their shelves.
In a viral post, the Facebook page called 1986 Stories shared: “THIS IS NOT A DRILL 🚨🚨. The Caravan Chocolate is back! I bought this today, 7 September, at Checkers [for] R15.99”
According to the Shoprite Group, to which Checkers falls, the chocolate is back as a special-edition offering.
DISCONTINUED TREATS IN SOUTH AFRICA
Caravan was quietly discontinued long before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. According to Nestle, this was to make room for new product offerings.
The chocolate is one of many sweet treats that have ceased production and can no longer be found on shelves.
Others include Nestle’s Chocolate Log, Cadbury’s Tempo, Inside Story, FFWD, and Holey Moleys.
Other household products have also been given the chop – from Nesquik to TaB to Redro Fish Paste andHellmann’s mayonnaise.
