I have made what seems like a completely reasonable goal to make it to 1000 elo by the end of the year. When I started back playing seriously about two or three months ago, I already knew how the pieces moved and the basics. I have peaked at 740 elo but have now sank back down to 681 after the quality of my games has suffered for about the past two weeks. Wins don’t even feel satisfying anymore as i’m just regaining lost ground but losses just feel soul crushing as I’m so quick to get angry about even the most minute mistakes. Even the loss of one pawn feels like the end of the game. I can’t notice opponents threats anymore, I can’t calculate clearly. It feels as though every game is a haze and i’m just thinking about not hanging a piece the whole game TERRIFIED of my opponents next move. This can’t be good for me, and if I take a break I feel like won’t reach my goal. It’s starting to also affect my mood and self-esteem which sounds pathetic to say. What should I do?
