Confirmed: Real Madrid trio nominated for La Liga awards for August

After a forgettable last season, Real Madrid made a sea of changes during the summer, bringing in a new manager in Jose Mourinho and following it up with six major signings.

And, the results so far have been very positive for Los Blancos, as they have made a perfect start to the 2026/27 La Liga campaign.

So far, the Spanish capital club have won each of their three matches in the league, defeating RCD Espanyol, Real Sociedad, and Malaga.

Real Madrid are currently second in the La Liga table, only behind Barcelona, who also have nine points, but have a better goal difference.

Following their positive start to the campaign, Real Madrid now find a number of their dressing room members being nominated for La Liga’s monthly awards.

Mourinho in the running for manager prize

Starting off, Mourinho finds himself nominated for the La Liga Coach of the Month for August.

The Portuguese tactician has made a brilliant start to his second spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, returning to the club after 13 years, and his efforts seem to be taking the team in the right direction.

Mourinho, though, will be up against Barcelona’s Hansi Flick and Alaves manager Quique Sanchez Flores for the prize.

Bellingham, Guler also nominated

Meanwhile, Real Madrid star midfielder Jude Bellingham finds himself in contention for the La Liga Player of the Month for August.

The England international has been reinstated to his preferred position as an attacking midfielder by Mourinho and has shown signs of being back to his best.

So far this term, Bellingham has scored two goals and registered two assists as well, while impressing with his overall game.

As such, he has been nominated for the Player of the Month prize, along with Barcelona’s Raphinha, Deportivo de A Coruna’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Atletico Madrid’s Alex Baena and Alaves defender Nahuel Tenaglia.

Finally, Real Madrid playmaker Arda Guler has been nominated for the La Liga U23 Player of the Month for August.

The Turkish international has started two of Real Madrid’s three games in the league so far, scoring and assisting one goal apiece.

Guler will be up against Xavi Espart, Miguel Sierra, Javi Hernandez, and Yassir Zabiri for the prize.
