Peacock’s Crystal Lake show is the first project set in the Friday the 13th franchise in almost two decades. Although it’s been praised by many, it does omit one specific mainstay the franchise has, that the creator of the show joked they tried to get in.

In a recent interview with TheWrap, series showrunner Brad Caleb Kane was asked about one trope of the franchise that doesn’t appear at all: nudity. For those unaware, nudity has been something that’s usually always occurred throughout the Friday the 13th franchise, in both comedic and normal ways. Crystal Lake doesn’t feature any, though, but it’s not for a lack of trying on Kane’s part.

“I tried. That’s America. You can give the kids the violence, but God forbid they see some breasts. Sometimes you get overruled in these things,” joked Kane.

Crystal Lake has plenty of R-rated violence and kills

Despite the lack of nudity in Crystal Lake, the show does still feature a ton of memorable moments when it comes to harkening back to the gore and kills of the Friday the 13th franchise. The series retains many of the horror moments of the original franchise, and includes a ton of moments that feel ripped straight from the original.

The series currently has a high rating on Rotten Tomatoes on both critic and audience scores after premiering earlier this month on Peacock. The series stars Linda Cardellini as a young Pamela Voorhees, and also features William Catlett, Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Cameron Scoggins, and Devin Kessler.
