Warner Bros. chiefs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy learned their jobs were ending from an online report before Skydance CEO David Ellison called to confirm it in what is described as a "tense" exchange.

They will leave when the merger closes Tuesday, with Abdy telling Ellison, “Good luck to you. I left you 39 movies.”
