Dogs and cats are getting their own directional interaction in The Blood of Dawnwalker, but Update 1.1 also brings changes with more weight for a role-playing game: a new Story mode with additional combat assist and a potion that resets abilities. The patch is expected to roll out next week, according to Eurogamer’s report on the update.

The Draught of Mind Rebirth lets players forget abilities learned in Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism, then use the time spent learning them to master a different set. The update also adds more than 1,100 other improvements and fixes, though the supplied patch details do not break down that larger tally.

The existing Story difficulty is being renamed Forgiving; a separate Story mode will be added with additional combat assistance. That distinction gives players a new, more assisted option without removing the previous setting.

The respec potion’s function is confirmed, but the available details do not say how players obtain it or whether it can be used more than once. That matters in a game where ability choices and time are intertwined. The game’s time pressure and skill-upgrade systems make the option to change direction a notable addition, rather than a routine menu convenience.

The Blood of Dawnwalker arrived in early September. Eurogamer awarded it four stars and praised its time-limiting structure, freeform approach, quests and characters. The outlet also reported that Update 1.1 includes several changes previously discussed by game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.

Combat, subtitles and traversal get attention

Rebel Wolves’ official Update 1.1 notes describe the animal feature with a suitably odd flourish: “Directional. Animal. Petting.” Dogs and cats are the confirmed recipients; the notes do not suggest a wider animal-interaction system.

Other listed changes focus on readability and control. Players will be able to increase subtitle font size and enable subtitles for all dialogue lines, while combat updates adjust animations and camera movement and improve targeting, locking on and disengaging from enemies.

Traversal is also getting tweaks to targeting and surface attachment when using Shadowstep and Planeshift. The patch includes an update to FrameGen technology, with dedicated settings, and removes blood-and-gore censorship from the Japanese version on Steam.
