I wish I could say I was excited for the next part of the search for the truth about the chessboard.

Days of Our Lives has always had big stories like this, filled with intrigue and danger.

But this time, even with several Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-14-26 pointing toward a climax for this story, it’s falling flat.

This whole chessboard intrigue story has been mishandled from the beginning, and it’s gotten worse since the pair went to Italy.

Chad and Belle are not an exciting couple to begin with, and their hotel room investigation doesn’t help — instead of actively searching for clues, they sat in their room having a one-sided phone conversation with Paul, who did all the heavy lifting off-screen.

That didn’t exactly make for scintillating drama, and to make matters worse, they’ve been stuck on the same beat for weeks: a mysterious person spying on them and dropping clues in what appears to be a twisted scavenger hunt.

Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-14-26 say that Chad and Belle aren’t alone when they decide to search Dominique Marino’s house.

Yawn.

I’m sure that was meant to be exciting and suspenseful, but this spoiler just indicates that nothing has changed.

A mysterious person has been feeding them clues, and someone who seems to be imitating Stefano has already been shown spying on them using a tablet.

While being stalked is a common thriller plot, it isn’t exciting if all we get is the same beat over and over.

We already know that someone is watching Chad and Belle, so it’s not surprising that this person is at the house they are searching.

Besides, I don’t trust Days of Our Lives not to mislead us into thinking we’re finally going to learn the stranger’s identity, only for it to be EJ who follows them to the house.

EJ has too much time on his hands since Sydney isn’t in Italy, is legitimately worried about Chad’s safety, and is determined to know what is going on with this Marino guy and why he wants to buy the Kiriakis mansion.

His showing up without permission is far from unlikely.

I’m More Interested In Everyone In Salem Being After EJ

EJ’s days of getting away with literal murder and everything else may be coming to an end.

Gwen is right that he’s usually untouchable, but declaring war on Xander’s family and company seems to have been a step too far for him.

Xander has always been the Kiriakis version of EJ — a man from across the pond (in his case, Scotland) who loves his family deeply but won’t hesitate to do something shady if it seems like there’s a good reason for it.

For that reason, this war is more like EJ vs. EJ 2.0, and it’s anyone’s guess who will win.

Gwen has been furious with EJ for a while, and all of Holly’s family is eager to find out what EJ had to do with Holly’s poisoning.

All of which adds up to the net closing around EJ, although he likely will slither out at the last minute — he always does.

The weakest part of this story is Cat’s involvement.

She keeps arguing with Rafe about her safety and worrying that EJ has figured out that she’s ISA — which is her own doing because she told him that she used to be in order to stop him from wondering if she is now.

I don’t find her part in this at all interesting, but fortunately, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-14-26 suggest that her part in this story will be overshadowed by other, more exciting developments.

One of those developments, of course, is Sydney.

There’s no telling what will happen with that poker game (other than that Philip will probably end up in an addictive pattern, considering the number of times that he’s insisted he can handle this game.)

However, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-14-26 say that Sydney will surprise EJ and that by the end of the week, she’ll touch ground in Salem.

I’m curious as to who she will be outside of this poker game financed by her mother’s multibillionaire boyfriend.

Sami isn’t due to appear for a while, but Dante Vitali is supposed to show up soon, and I can’t help wondering if he and Dominic Marino are one and the same.

I agree with EJ that it’s strange that someone with no apparent ties to Salem is so eager to buy the house, although I also agree with Maggie and Xander that I’d rather it fall into the hands of almost anyone other than EJ.

I’m not a fan of love triangles and I think Sarah and Xander have burned enough second chances that they should stay away from each other forever.

However, Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of 9-14-26 say that Sarah will work with both of the men in her life to try to bring down EJ.

I like this idea. The three of them work well together as a team despite the jealousy between Xander and Brady.

I just wish they could continue getting along and solving cases together regardless of who Sarah ends up with in the end, although I know that’s probably never going to be the case.
