They don't have a good reputation online and as a kid I myself had a negative view of them as being incomplete and would try to avoid books that were abridged. As an adult though, I have become more open minded to different ideas and have been curious to see the other side. And was wondering if there are people who do not simply see abridged versions (either for children or classics that are extremely long) as simply incomplete and what reasons some may have more nuanced views and maybe even see them positively.
