The White House just gave Earth a new Green Lantern before HBO’s Lanterns could. A new video from the official White House account recites the iconic DC oath, beating John Stewart to the ring by at least four episodes.

The official White House YouTube account posted a new video depicting President Donald Trump as Green Lantern. The short clip features Trump wielding a power ring and deploying an energy barrier over a desert landscape. The video also includes imagery of border security, military power, and a neon-green “American Manufacturing” sign.

The White House’s X (formerly Twitter) account shared the post alongside the full Green Lantern oath. The video arrives as HBO’s Lanterns series continues its weekly run. The DC show premiered on August 16 and airs new episodes every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.

In the HBO series, Aaron Pierre plays John Stewart, a new recruit training under Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler). As of Episode 4, Stewart has not yet become Earth’s new Green Lantern. The show follows two intergalactic cops investigating a murder in the American heartland.

The White House video uses the character’s iconic oath to frame Trump as a protector. It ties his image to themes of domestic manufacturing and national defense. The clip also shows scenes linked to border enforcement.

Lanterns explores the tension between Stewart and Jordan across two timelines set in 2016 and 2026. Before John Stewart, Hal Jordan served as Earth’s Green Lantern since 1986 in the show’s timeline. The series features Sinestro (Ulrich Thomsen) manipulating events from a cosmic prison.
