A Nigerian wedding celebration in the Netherlands took an unexpected turn on Sunday, October 11, 2026, after police officers reportedly stormed the venue following complaints about noise pollution.
Videos circulating online captured the moment officers dressed in yellow vests entered the beautifully decorated hall and instructed guests to leave.
The wedding guests, many dressed in colourful traditional Nigerian outfits and elegant formal wear, were seen filing out of the venue, with some visibly upset by the sudden interruption.
The incident quickly became tense, as some guests appeared to challenge the officers’ actions.
In the background, a voice accused the police of racial discrimination, alleging that the wedding was being disrupted because the guests were Black.
“It is because we are blacks; you’re treating us like animals,” the individual was heard saying, while expressing frustration over the way the officers handled the situation.
The speaker also questioned the need to interrupt such a special occasion, stressing that it was someone’s wedding and that the situation could have been handled differently.
In the Netherlands, public and private events are subject to local rules on noise levels, permits and operating hours.
However, it is still unclear whether the wedding organisers violated any specific regulations or exceeded the venue’s permitted hours.
