Evangelion: Δ Cross Reflections is planned to launch in 2027 as the first game in a trilogy of VR adventures, according to Kotaku. Korean developer Pixelity Inc. has released a debut trailer for the project, which will revisit the world of the original 1995 anime through an all-new, alternate-universe story rather than simply recreating its events.
The three-game plan gives this a rather different shape from the usual licensed VR detour: Cross Reflections is being pitched as the opening of a larger story, not a one-off chance to climb into an Eva. It also joins other announced VR adaptations of well-known Japanese series, including Dual Destinies VR.
A new trainee in a familiar worldPlayers take the role of a new NERV trainee hoping to become an Evangelion pilot. The planned trilogy is structured around the original anime’s events, but its story introduces original characters and an alternative timeline alongside returning characters, familiar Angels, and environments from across the series.
That approach has plenty of precedent in Evangelion. The franchise has explored alternate-universe stories in games, including PC and console releases in the late 1990s, while the Rebuild of Evangelion films offered another take on the original story. There has also been a Japan-only VR experience in which players entered an Eva to fight an Angel; Kotaku describes Cross Reflections as a more ambitious project.
That distinction matters. A short VR attraction can deliver the novelty of standing inside an Eva, but a trilogy makes a bigger promise: room for a new character and story to develop across multiple games. Whether the format can carry Evangelion’s particular blend of enormous battles and stranger, more intimate moments remains to be seen, but this is not being framed as a simple remake.
The teaser mixes Angel battles with cakeThe debut trailer is a 2D-animated preview of scenes intended to appear in the finished game. It teases large-scale battles against Angels, but also cuts between more everyday activities: running through NERV headquarters, repairing vehicles and an Evangelion, and training at shooting ranges.
Then come the less expected glimpses: hedgetrimming and eating cake with Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley. The trailer offers little context for these disconnected scenes, so it is too early to say how they fit into the story. Still, the mix of recognisable characters and new situations suggests the game intends to revisit Evangelion without merely staging a greatest-hits reel.
The official EvangelionXR account announced the teaser on September 29, 2026. The footage offers a first look rather than a full explanation of the game’s structure or how its new story connects to the anime.

For now, 2027 is the window for the first chapter of an Evangelion VR project with a longer horizon than a single game.
