The search for James Bond’s next face has become a hot topic since Daniel Craig handed over the keys to 007. Now, a former Bond girl from Craig’s run has weighed in, adding a fresh voice to the casting chatter as fans wait to see who will step into the iconic spy’s shoes.

Léa Seydoux says she has moved on from the James Bond franchise

At the Gentle Monster London Film Festival premiere on Oct. 10, the 41-year-old actor told PEOPLE she loved playing Madeleine Swann but considered that chapter over. Asked about Daniel Craig’s successor, she said, “I don’t really care, to be honest. That’s not my … It’s over.”

Léa Seydoux gave James Bond’s world a love story that lasted beyond a single mission, appearing as Madeleine Swann in both Spectre (2015) and No Time to Die (2021). Swann enters the franchise as a psychiatrist and the daughter of Mr. White, but her connection with Bond soon becomes central to his personal journey, carrying their relationship into Daniel Craig’s final film as 007.

Seydoux was confident the character would leave her mark. In a 2015 interview, she called Swann “a strong character” and “a Bond girl you remember,” which set her apart from a fleeting romantic subplot.

Daniel Craig’s run as 007 spanned five films over 15 years, beginning with Casino Royale in 2006 and continuing through Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015) and No Time to Die (2021). Seydoux entered that stretch in its final two chapters, joining a lineup of Bond love interests that also featured Eva Green, Olga Kurylenko, Monica Bellucci and Ana de Armas.

Now, the franchise is gearing up for its next big casting reveal, but the identity of the new 007 remains under wraps. Amazon MGM Studios said in May 2026 that the selection process had “just begun,” after the creative team spent several months taking shape. That has left plenty of room for fan theories, with Jacob Elordi, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Golding, Paul Mescal, Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, Jack O’Connell, Henry Cavill, Regé-Jean Page and Idris Elba among the names circulating in speculation.
