Hamilton Police allege a woman sexually assaulted a “vulnerable” student while fraudulently working as an educational assistant at the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.

In a press release Thursday, police said the youth’s family was led to believe the woman was a qualified respite worker and began meeting with the alleged victim – “a student who required supports” – in September 2025 outside of her role with the school board.

Police claim the alleged offences occurred during these meetings.

Cops have charged Karly Tripp, 30, with sexual assault, assault, voyeurism and uttering threats to cause death.

She is currently in jail on other charges.

Police said investigators are concerned about the possibility Tripp may have targeted other vulnerable persons through her employment.
