The latest exit is Deano van Rooyen, who has parted ways with Orlando Pirates by mutual consent following discussions about his future. His departure takes the number of player movements out of Mayfair since June to 13.

The biggest clear-out came in July when the Sea Robbers sanctioned the permanent departures of seven players to clubs across the Premier Soccer League pyramid.

ORLANDO PIRATES CLEAR OUT SQUAD

The Buccaneers announced Van Rooyen’s suprise exit on Friday: “Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that Deano van Rooyen will be leaving the club, after the player and the club agreed to part ways by mutual consent.

“The decision follows open conversations between Deano and the Club, with both sides agreeing that the time is right for him to begin a new chapter in his career.”

Van Rooyen follows Thabiso Sesane and Selaelo Rasebotja who joined Siwelele FC. Siyabonga Ndlozi and Gomolemo Khoto moved to Sekhukhune United.

Sonwabo Khumalo and Blessing Ngiba completed moves to Midlands Wanderers FC, with Seth Green joining Durban City FC as the Buccaneers continued to trim their squad.

The departures followed several senior exits at the end of the previous campaign. Bandile Shandu left for Durban City FC after his contract expired, while Tshegofatso Mabasa, Sipho Mbule, Karim Kimvuidi and Deivi Miguel Vieira (Gilberto) also brought their spells with the Buccaneers to an end.

NEW SIGNINGS

The Buccaneers have also been active in the transfer market. They have signed brought in nine players. Thapelo Mokobodi on a three-year contract from Stellenbosch FC. Other new arrivals include Sebastian Pedersen, Neo Rapoo, Sbangani Zulu, Bohlale Ngwato, Matome Mmolai, Gamphani Lungu, Mthetheleli Mthiyane, and Aphiwe Baliti, who joined from Siwelele FC before being loaned back to the club for the season.
