In 1928–29, architects Albert Laprade and Léon-Émile Bazin were commissioned to give Citroën a spectacular showroom facing rue Marbeuf. The result was radically different from the traditional Parisian commercial façade.
The Garage Marbeuf, in Paris’s 8th arrondissement, was an extraordinary piece of French commercial architecture of the interwar period, as well as one of the more regrettable losses of modern Paris. It was essentially conceived as a monumental inhabited display case for Citroën cars.
